CA Sheriff’s Office Plane Makes Emergency Landing, Flips
A California deputy piloting a Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office plane was unscathed following an emergency crash landing Thursday when the plane’s engine failed. The plane flipped, coming to rest on its canopy.

The Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office plane that crash landed Thursday is shown being removed from where it made the emergency landing.

Fire department officials told FOX40 that the deputy was flying the plane to Woodland for routine maintenance when the engine failed.
While flying at about 500 feet, the pilot reported the engine failure and that the plane was about three miles from Sacramento Executive Airport. He attempted to reach the airport but did not.
The plane was forced to land short of the airport in a grassy area in Yolo County.
Despite a landing gear digging into the ground and causing the plane to flip onto its canopy, the deputy pilot, who was the only person on board, was uninjured.
The West Sacramento Fire Department responded and remained at the scene until the plane could be placed onto a trailer and removed.
