CA Motorcycle Officer Struck and Killed
The California Highway Patrol said the driver who fatally struck a motorcycle officer Thursday was driving impaired and detained by witnesses at the crash scene.

Officer Matthew Bowen, who was struck and killed earlier this week, joined the Vacaville Police Department in June of 2023.

The 24-year-old woman who crash investigators said hit the officer was driving under the influence of drugs and was detained by witnesses at the crash scene, the California Highway Patrol told FOX40.
The Vacaville Police Department, in a statement, said Brown joined the department in June of 2023 and previously served with the Concord Police Department.
“He has served with the highest level of dedication and honor, and his loss is deeply felt by the department, the city, and the community,” the department said. “It is with much gratitude that we thank our neighboring agencies who have poured out a tremendous amount of support during this time.”
Brown is survived by his wife, two sons, parents, and a brother.
The California Highway Patrol is conducting the crash investigation.
