A California man was arrested Wednesday and charged with attacking a D.C. police officer with an electroshock weapon during the riot at the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6.
Daniel Rodriguez, 38, of Fontana, Calif., is also accused of smashing a window of the Capitol and stealing an emergency escape hood designed to protect lawmakers against chemical munitions used inside the building.
The charge of assaulting a police officer with a deadly weapon carries a penalty of up to 20 years in prison, the Washington Post reports.
A spokeswoman for D.C. police confirmed that the injured officer was Michael Fanone.
