Upon hearing the screams and gunshots, officers forced entry into the apartment and were met by the suspect, identified as 28-year-old Peter Corey.
Police say Corey was combative and armed with a firearm. Officers gave repeated commands for him to drop the firearm.
The video shows the weapon fall out of Corey’s hand and officers moved to separate the subject from the weapon on the ground.
An altercation followed and Corey stabbed Officer Shawn McMichael in the head with a knife, causing serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
