The Kansas City Police Department (MO) released body-worn camera video of when two officers saved the life of an infant who was not breathing.
Officer Richard DuChaine and his partner, Officer Charles Owen, responded to a call for a 1-month-old girl who wasn’t breathing. The officers arrived before EMS and sprinted into the house, where the father handed the baby over to DuChaine.
“Come on sweetie, come on,” Duchaine is heard saying to the child on video.
Police say DuChaine began infant chest compressions followed by back thrusts and the baby started breathing again. He then turned the baby on her side and Owen checked for obstructions.
The two officers later visited the baby girl in the hospital.
The mother says the child was diagnosed with respiratory syncytial virus, or RSV, an illness that is surging to record levels among children across the country, reports ABC News .
