Attorneys for the family of the man killed in 2021 when a Brooklyn Center, MN, police officer fired her handgun thinking she had drawn her Taser say the city has agreed to pay a $3.25 million settlement.
Daunte Wright was killed in April of 2021 when Officer Kim Potter mistakenly pulled her gun instead of her Taser during a traffic stop. Potter was convicted of manslaughter last year and sentenced to two years.
A press release from the civil firm representing Wright’s family went on to say that the settlement won't be finalized until there is an agreement on "substantial and meaningful non-monetary relief," which could include additional training for officers, reports KARE11 .
