Two hikers walking in the Burbank foothills spelled an odor and found a badly decomposed body at about 8 p.m. in an area of heavy brush, reports the Los Angeles Daily News .
Ivens' service weapon was found with the body, which was behind a Catholic school about a mile and a half from the agent's home. The Burbank Police Department is leading the investigation.
Ivens' wife Thea set up the Website "Let's Bring Steve Home" to rally supporters to "help us find Steve."
