Beverly Hills Police Department Loses $1.1 Million Harassment Lawsuit

The Beverly Hills (CA) Police Department lost a lawsuit alleging workplace harassment and retaliation by Chief Sandra Spagnoli.

According to the Los Angeles Times , Lieutenants Renato Moreno, Michael Foxen, and Shan Davis and a civilian employee named Dona Norris were awarded $1.1 million after three days of deliberations by the jury.

The allegations in the lawsuit indicated that Spagnoli had made several comments related to the sexual orientation and ethnic origin of several officers.

During the trial, Spagnoli admitted to making some of the remarks but said she didn’t intend for them to be offensive.

There have been lawsuits by at least 21 current and former department employees, according to court records.
