Hundreds of people gathered to march through the streets of Berkeley, Calif., and shut down the Eastshore freeway for more than an hour Monday evening, the latest in an ongoing series of nationwide and local protests over police violence, reports Inside Bay Area .
More than 150 people were arrested after they walked onto Interstate 80 and blocked both lanes of traffic for more than an hour, according to the California Highway Patrol. The CHP said its officers were assaulted with rocks and other objects when they tried to clear the protestors from the highway.
