Baltimore Officer Gets 5 Years for Drawing Gun on Pedestrian
An officer with the Baltimore Police Department has been sentenced to five years for drawing a gun on a pedestrian who threw tea on his personal car.
An officer with the Baltimore Police Department has been sentenced to five years for drawing a gun on a pedestrian who threw tea on his personal car.
According to the Baltimore Sun, Officer Michael Gentil was off duty when the incident occurred. After the individual dumped tea on his new car, Gentil pulled over, exited his vehicle, pointed his gun at the pedestrian, and ordered him facedown on the pavement.
Baltimore Circuit Judge Robert Taylor said that he was bound by state laws that mandate at least five years in prison for those convicted of using a gun in a crime of violence.
Gentil resigned after 24 years on the department and had begun work as a security guard.
At his sentencing Gentil said, "I wish I could have that moment back."
