Baltimore, Justice Department Reach Consent Decree Agreement

Baltimore and the U.S. Department of Justice have reached an agreement on city policing reforms as part of a formal consent decree, which is now slated to be approved by the city's spending panel on Thursday, reports the Baltimore Sun .

The agreement also must be approved by a U.S. District Court judge before becoming binding. It has not been made public.

"We're very, very close," Mayor Catherine Pugh said Wednesday morning in Baltimore. "We're going to get it done."

Pugh's office said she and U.S. Attorney General Loretta Lynch would jointly announce the agreement at City Hall at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, after the meeting of the spending board.
