According to CBS News, a hard security perimeter of roughly a quarter mile will surround the stadium where 13 of the 15 official NFL events will take place, and the city will be the center of a 30-mile no-fly zone around the stadium. An undisclosed number of F-16 fighter aircraft will intercept any aircraft encroaching that airspace with instructions to keep the offending aircraft from nearing the event.
The city is also prepared to defend against a cyberattack. Last year, a massive cyberattack crashed the city's computers for nearly two weeks.
Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms said that the city is "absolutely" more prepared for a cyberattack now than it was a year ago.
Thousands of cameras have been deployed in downtown Atlanta and myriad other measures have been taken to ensure the safety of sports fans in attendance for Super Bowl LIII.
