Atlanta Police Clear Park, Arrest 52 Occupiers

The 52 Occupy Atlanta protesters arrested early today at Woodruff Park gained release on $100 signature bonds, following a judge's ruling.

Police cleared Woodruff Park at about 12:45 a.m. after two weeks of protests, and Occupy protesters ignored lawful orders to disperse. An Atlanta Police spokesman released a statement that anyone who entered the park would be arrested.

More than 100 officers were involved in the operation to clear the park. Atlanta police recruits, dressed in white T-shirts and blue pants, began erecting the barricades Monday afternoon after Mayor Kasim Reed said he would rescind his order allowing the protesters to remain in the park until Nov. 7. So far, the protesters have cost the city $300,000.
