Army officials at the Fort Hood military base are saluting the actions of a civilian policewoman who helped stop a shooting rampage when she fired four shots at the suspect.
Officer Kimberly Munley, who remains hospitalized with the other victims, confronted the suspected shooter Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan, who drew two handguns and began firing in a building where soldiers were preparing to deploy overseas, VOA News reports.
Munley, who responded within three minutes of the shooting, rushed into the building and confronted Hasan as he turned a corner. She had been directing traffic, prior to the incident, the Daily News reports.
On Friday, Munley's Twitter page was actively referenced on the social media site. In her bio, she says, "I live a good life … a hard one, but I go to sleep peacefully [at] night knowing that I may have made a difference in someone's life."
