A Shepherdsville (KY) Police Department K-9 was shot and killed by a shoplifting suspect Wednesday night in Lebanon Junction.
Kentucky State Police told WHAS11 when officers arrived on the scene they found a man outside the Dollar General with a firearm. The man reportedly began firing at police and took off running.

Dash, the K-9, found the suspect hiding nearby and attempted to restrain him, but the man discharged his firearm striking the dog, police say.
KSP said that officers with the Shepherdsville Police Department and Bullitt County Sheriff's Department returned fire, striking the man multiple times. He was transported by EMS to the University of Louisville Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
