The Arlington (Texas) Police Department is reviewing its policy of how officers are dispatched to domestic disturbance calls, following the fatal shooting of Officer Jillian Smith , reports the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.
Smith, 24, was fatally shot, after responding to the Arbrook Park apartments to take the statement of Kimberly Deshay Carter, who called 911 to report an assault by her ex-boyfriend. With Carter's 11-year-old daughter in the room, registered sex offender Barnes Samuel Nettles returned to kill Carter and Officer Smith, and then turned the gun on himself.
