Arizona Police Chief Offers Resignation Following In-Custody Death

Magnus said that while the three officers involved in the incident—who have all resigned from the force—have not yet been found criminally responsible in the death of the subject they were attempting to take into custody in April.

However, an administrative investigation found that the officers involved were in violation of department policies during the arrest and would have been fired had they not resigned.

Tucson Police Chief Chris Magnus offered his resignation during a press conference on Wednesday, during which video footage was shown of an incident in April that led to the in-custody death of a man named Carlos Ingram Lopez.

According to NPR , Tucson Mayor Regina Romero—who was at the press conference—did not indicate if she will accept it.
