When the woman stopped the vehicle, the suspect got out of the vehicle armed with a gun, according to AZfamily.com .
The woman then reportedly fled in her vehicle.
The gunman then allegedly pointed the gun at passing vehicles and at himself.
Responding officers commanded the man to drop the gun. When he failed to comply with those commands, officers opened fire, fatally wounding the man.
