A lot of people who live in a neighborhood near Juan Tabo Boulevard and Spain Road said police used excessive force when they shot and killed a man inside a home on Thursday.
One of those neighbors even wrote a letter to the mayor expressing his concerns and saying this shouldn't have happened.
"I'm really angry that I called for help and this happened," one resident said.
A woman, who did not want to be identified, called 911 Thursday night reporting her neighbor Chris Hinz was drunk and threatening to commit suicide. She said she wasn't prepared for what happened next.
"It was absolutely unnecessary. I cannot believe it happened. What were they thinking?" the woman said.
Police said when they got there Hinz was shooting a weapon from inside the home. Police said after a two-hour standoff, Hinz came outside with a rifle and that's when officers fired and killed him.
