Sunday morning a Montgomery, Ala., police officer was shot and wounded while trying to apprehend a suspect in a Walmart theft.
Around 8:30 a.m. Officer Robert Hubbard responded to a report of theft at the Walmart on Eastern Boulevard. When the officer approached the suspect in the store, the man produced a weapon and fired, striking the officer, authorities said. The suspect fled to the parking lot where he reportedly stole a Chrysler and drove from the scene.
