Alabama Deputy Dies at Talladega Speedway

Dep. Allen L. Kay of the DeKalb County (Ala.) Sheriff’s Office suffered a fatal heart attack at the age of 60 while working a security detail at the Talladega Superspeedway.

He had arrested two people for illegally possessing a handgun at the venue and transported them to jail. He appears to have died in his sleep after his midnight shift ended.

Kay had served with the Sheriff’s Office for eight years in the jail's medical department. He is survived by his wife, two daughters, and four grandchildren.
