Al Qaeda Praises Fort Hood Shooter As Terrorist Trailblazer

With military proceedings underway involving Army Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan's attack that killed 13 soliders at Fort Hood's solider readiness center in November 2009, Al Qaeda is praising the killer as a "trailblazer" who should be emulated, reports the Christian Science Monitor.

The shooting served the same purpose as 9/11, according to a statement from the group, to terrify "the Crusader West" and shake America off kilter.

Whatever his motives, Al Qaeda says, Hasan pulled off a near-perfect operation by keeping his plans secret, carefully picking a target for optimal effect, and carrying out the attack without regard for his own life.
