Tuscumbia, AL, police say one person was killed and an officer was injured following a vehicle crash involving a Tuscumbia police cruiser Tuesday.
Police Chief Tony Logan told AL.com the incident happened about 8:16 p.m.

Officers arriving on the scene found a pedestrian had been struck and that the vehicle was a marked Tuscumbia police vehicle.

The officer driving the vehicle was airlifted to Huntsville Hospital. By midday Tuesday, Logan said the officer is in surgery to repair injuries sustained in the crash.
