The suspect was identified by Army officers during a press conference as Sgt. Quornelius Radford. He is assigned to an automated logistics unit.
Brigadier General John Lubas said soldiers who witnessed the shooting reacted immediately, “intervened and subdued the suspect.” He was then taken into custody by Army law enforcement.
The wounded are reportedly Sgt. Radford’s “co-workers.”
Lubas praised Army law enforcement and local law enforcement and other first responders for their assistance after the shooting.
Army officials said the investigation is ongoing and they will not speculate as to motive for the attack.
Lubas did say Radford had received a recent DUI and the Army was unaware of the arrest until the shooting.
The general said the weapon used in the attack was not issued by the Army, and it was unknow how it was brought onto the base.
