According to WWLP-TV News , as many as 70 police departments across Massachusetts are participating in "No Shave November," raising money for various charities, including organizations that assist veterans who are suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder, or are suffering from traumatic brain injuries.
The Northampton Police Department said in a Facebook post, "Each officer who donates $100 is given a free month's pass on our department policy that restricts beards. Officers who want to participate may either grow facial hair or wear a special beard pin for the month of November. All donations will benefit Home Base. Home Base's mission is to help service members, veterans, and their families heal from invisible wounds, such as post-traumatic stress disorder and traumatic brain injury."
