Following an extensive nationwide search, the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund (NLEOMF) has announced that 30-year law enforcement veteran Bill Alexander has been named CEO of the nonprofit organization.

Alexander has served for five months as interim CEO during the search process and was previously NLEOMF’s executive director of its Memorial for nearly two years.

“All of us at NLEOMF were humbled and honored by the number of highly qualified persons who expressed interest in this position, and we can’t thank them enough for their dedication and passion of serving and honoring our law enforcement heroes and their families,” said Lori Sharpe Day, managing partner of the Ashcroft Law Firm and NLEOMF board chairperson. “But at the end of the day and after very careful consideration, it was clear to the board that Bill is the right person for this position. He has the extensive background, experience, dedication, and knowledge to move our organization forward as we remain steadfast in our commitment to honor those who have sacrificed so much.”

Alexander said, “I have spent my adult life in the law enforcement profession, so it is an immense privilege to work in this leadership capacity while continuing the work of my predecessors in honoring both our fallen heroes and all those who so selflessly work to protect us all. We will forever exist to honor the men and women who have died in the line of duty, while our companion world-class museum strives to tell their stories, and the broader story of American law enforcement. We hope all citizens will join with us in our collective promise of being thankful and honoring those who risk everything while working to preserve our democracy, and to never forget those who serve and sacrifice everything while keeping our communities safe.”

Founded in 1984, NLEOMF is the nonprofit organization responsible for the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial in Washington, DC. The Memorial honors the more than 23,000 American officers. NLEOMF also operates the National Law Enforcement Museum, which is located behind the Memorial at Judiciary Square, and it conducts multiple programs and activities designed to promote awareness, appreciation and wellness for law enforcement officers and their families.
