2 Georgia Officers Investigated for Using "Coin Flip" to Decide Arrest

Two Roswell, GA, police officers are now the targets of an internal investigation into allegations that they used a "coin flip app" to decide whether to arrest a motorist during an April traffic stop or issue a citation instead.

Roswell Mayor Lori Henry said that she was "shocked and offended by their actions," according to the Charlotte Observer .

Roswell police Chief Rusty Grant said in a Facebook post , "This behavior is not indicative of the hardworking officers of the Roswell Police Department. I have much higher expectations of our police officers, and I am appalled that any law enforcement officer would trivialize the decision-making process of something as important as the arrest of a person.

The two officers — who have been identified as Courtney Brown and Kristee Wilson according to the Atlanta Journal Constitution — now on paid administrative leave.

The motorist — identified as Sarah Webb — was initially cited for reckless driving, too fast for conditions and speeding, but the charges were later dismissed.
