Graphic video has been released by Metro Nashville Police showing a detective being shot by a murder suspect while they were trying to arrest him in the city’s Madison neighborhood.

Metro Nashville Police Department Detective Carlos Diaz was shot in the leg Monday, suffering non-life threatening injuries. Diaz was shot while trying to arrest murder suspect 31-year-old Miqueal Williams on a first degree murder indictment in a Madison apartment complex, Fox 17 reports.

The video shows Detective Diaz walking up to a yellow car. Metro Police said Williams was getting out of the car from the passenger seat side and opened fire at Detective Diaz.

It also shows Detective Joseph Gonzales stepping in, who MNPD says shot at Williams through the open passenger side door and hit him in the hip.

Both Detective Diaz and the suspect Williams were treated at Skyline Medical Center. MNPD reported late Monday night that Diaz was released from the hospital.
