Two Phoenix officers have died from medical emergencies this week, one on duty.

Officer Mark Aker died from a medical event while on-duty on Wednesday May 10, police said. Aker joined Phoenix Police in 1994 and was assigned to the Maryvale Estrella Mountain Precinct, Fox 10 reports.

Sergeant Tim Wheeler died from a medical event while at home on May 9, police said.

Wheeler joined Phoenix PD in 2007 and was assigned to the Desert Horizon Precinct.
