A Cameron, TX, police officer was killed in an exchange of gunfire with a shooting suspect Wednesday night.
Police responded to a report of a domestic shooting earlier Wednesday. The victim told Cameron PD that the victim was shot in the back of the neck by the victim’s spouse.
Police investigated, and then applied for a search warrant at another residence. Cameron PD, the Milam County Sheriff’s Office, the Rockdale Police Department and the Texas Department of Public Safety attempted warrant service at the suspect's residence, Fox 44 reports.
The suspect opened fire on law enforcement personnel, and law enforcement fired back. A Cameron officer and the suspect were mortally wounded.
The name of the fallen Cameron officer has not been released.
