Middle Tennessee law enforcement is searching for Nashville Police Chief John Drake's estranged son, who is suspected of shooting two La Vergne police officers during a stolen vehicle chase.
He is wanted on two counts of attempted first degree murder and should be considered "armed and very dangerous," the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation said. TBI issued a statewide Blue Alert for John C. Drake, Jr., and he has been added to their most wanted list, the Tennessean reports.
The shooting occurred at 2:23 p.m. Saturday in front of a Dollar General Store in La Vergne, a city located about 25 miles southeast of Nashville.
Officers were chasing a possible stolen vehicle, according to La Vergne Police Chief Christopher Moews.
The wounded officers were identified as Ashely Boleyjack and Gregory Kern.
Boleyjack was released Saturday night, a department spokesperson said, and Kern was released from the hospital Sunday
In a statement released by the City of Nashville, John Drake said he was "shocked and deeply saddened" to learn of the La Vergne incident.
