Carbon Motors Corp.'s decision to produce its clean-diesel E7 patrol vehicle in Connorsville, Ind., has understandably brought hope to a town with a 60 percent unemployment rate.
The maker of a purpose-built patrol car narrowed its choice from three finalist cities. The company that's run by ex-Ford executives will occupy the former Visteon factory to build its vehicle. The car will be ready for agencies in 2012.
It also means the vehicle takes another step toward becoming a tangible option for forward-thinking law enforcement agencies.
