The National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund and Modern City Entertainment are teaming up to create "Heroes Behind the Badge," a documentary about the service and sacrifice of law enforcement officers serving across America.
The film features stories of the men and women in law enforcement and the dangers they face on the job.
"Heroes Behind the Badge" highlights the lives of four fallen officers and the impact of their deaths upon their fellow officers, families, and friends. In addition, the documentary tells the stories of three officers who were attacked on duty and survived. These officers share their insights about how their near-fatal encounters have affected their lives.
"Heroes Behind the Badge" also features footage from the extremely moving National Police Week events. During Police Week, officers, officer families, and law enforcement supporters gather for a Candlelight Vigil at the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial in Washington, D.C. Names of fallen officers who have been added to the memorial that year are read out loud during the vigil.
Producer Bill Erfurth retired from the Miami-Dade Police Department at the rank of lieutenant. He is a 25-year police veteran. Director Wayne Derrick has helmed numerous documentary films and is a British Academy of Film and Television Award (BAFTA) winner.
