Sexual Harassment Isn't As Prevalent Today
POLICE Magazine asked a few of our female officer bloggers whether they have ever experienced sexual harassment on the job, and to explain how they handled it. Sgt. Diana Drummey gives her perspective.
POLICE Magazine asked a few of our female officer bloggers whether they have experienced sexual harassment in a law enforcement agency, and to explain how they handled it. Sgt. Diana Drummey gives her perspective:
I have experienced it. Some of it I just ignored, some I think I was naïve, and now if it happened: Stand by, Mister. I think it is still out there, but nothing to the extent that is was years ago.
Women are much stronger and educated about this matter, as well as men; in the field, [we] get constant training. Heck, we all get constant training, and this is not reserved just for woman being harassed. Men can also be harassed.
The definition of sexual harassment has changed over the years, and it encompasses many more aspects of behavior in the work place.
