Phoenix Anti-Graffiti Program Nets 15 Arrests
Phoenix police announced Tuesday that a new anti-graffiti program has netted 15 arrests in the past two months. Most of the suspects are gang-affiliated teens between the ages of 13 to 17, police said. The suspects were arrested in the Maryvale police precinct in connection with approximately $40,000 worth of damage, police said at a Tuesday press conference.

he House gave lopsided approval Wednesday to a bill that would allow chemical or physical castration as a punishment for some sex crimes. On a 69-14 vote, House members approved Senate Bill 144 by Sen. Nick Gautreaux, D-Abbeville, sending it back to the Senate for approval of House committee changes.

A routine burglar alarm call Tuesday ended with Knoxville police officer Norman Rickman being shot for the second time in his career. Rickman also was shot in 2001. He wasn't wearing a protective vest either time. Suspects have been captured.
