3 Houston Officers Shot at End of Pursuit, Suspect at Large

Three Houston officers are in stable condition after being shot Thursday afternoon in the Third Ward area of the city, police said in a tweet.

At least one patrol car was riddled with bullet holes, according to footage of the scene taken by OnScene.TV. The gray Dodge Charger also had several bullet holes. Doug Griffith, president of the Houston cops union, said the man police were pursuing allegedly opened fire into his girlfriend's house, according to reporters with the Houston Chronicle.

Houston police told KPRC the suspect fled the scene in a white Mercedes car.

The suspect had been identified by police sources as Roland Caballero.

There are reports that Houston officers are involved in a standoff several miles from the shooting scene.

There is also a report that the suspect has been wounded.

Houston SWAT and the bomb squad are on scene, KHOU reports.
