Interim Miami Police Chief Manny Morales has reinstated seven of the department's highest ranking officers who were fired or demoted by former Chief Art Acevedo. Acevedo was himself fired in October.
Morales did not offer details to the Miami Herald on why he decided to overturn the personnel decisions of Acevedo.
“They are expected to return some time in the next few weeks,” was all Morales would say,
Commissioner Joe Carollo, an Acevedo critic, welcomed the news. “All those people and others deserve to be put back to their previous ranks and positions,” the commissioner said.
