Slain TX Deputies Identified, Details of Shooting Released

Sgt. Stephen Jones and Deputy Samuel Leonard responded to a complaint about the dogs owned by the suspect when they were killed, police say.

The two Concho County (TX) Sheriff's Deputies killed Monday in the town of Eden have been identified.

Jones and Leonard were there with a City of Eden employee, who was also shot and critically injured, KXAN reports. He was taken to the hospital in San Angelo.

The man suspected in the deadly shootings, 28-year-old Jeffrey Nicholas, was arrested and booked into Tom Green County Jail. He’s charged with two counts of capital murder of a peace officer and is being held on a $4 million bond.
