An officer with the Aurora (CO) Police Department is accused of sending a text message to a witness to a recent crime asking if the young woman was single and available.

According to WWLP-TV, the woman had given a report to officers after she had seen a suspect throw a rock into a neighbor's automobile windshield.

A short time later—after having given responding officers her contact information—she received a text message from one of the responding officers.

"He identified himself as an officer, the handsome one with the beard, and said I seemed cool and attractive," Jones said.

The agency confirms that they are investigating the interaction.
