The Sauk Rapids Police Department has announced that it will begin looking for volunteers to join its newly-formed Police Reserve Program.

The agency said on Facebook, "Sauk Rapids, a fast-growing central Minnesota community, is seeking mature, service-oriented individuals to fill the role of volunteer Police Reserve Officers."

The unpaid reserves will be tasked with working crowd control at special events, directing traffic, documenting ordinance violations, and other duties.

The police department is currently accepting applications for the program through mid-November and aims to begin training the new reserve officers in January.
