Texas K-9 Suffers Non-Life-Threatening Gunshot Wounds

A Lubbock Police Department K-9 and a 14-year-old gunman suffered non-life-threatening gunshot wounds during an early morning gunfight following a vehicle and foot police pursuit on Tuesday.

A Lubbock (TX) Police Department K-9 and a 14-year-old gunman suffered non-life-threatening gunshot wounds during an early morning gunfight following a vehicle and foot police pursuit on Tuesday.

According to KCBD-TV, the incident began when police spotted a vehicle that had been reported stolen.

After a short pursuit, the suspect vehicle stopped and four subjects fled on foot. One officer followed one of the suspects into a backyard along with his K-9 partner.  

The suspect opened fire, striking the K-9.

The officer returned fire, striking the young gunman.

K-9 Max was transported to a nearby emergency veterinarian clinic, where he received treatment.

The assailant—whose name has not been released—was transported to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
