California Officers Attempting to Rescue Badly Wounded Officer Came Under Withering Fire

After Sacramento Officer Tara O'Sullivan was shot in an ambush at a domestic call, officers wanted to rescue her but were unable to approach due to the fact that the gunman kept firing on the scene.

After Sacramento, CA, Officer Tara O'Sullivan was shot in an ambush at a domestic call, officers wanted to rescue her but were unable to approach due to the fact that the gunman kept firing on the scene.

According to CBS News, officers on the scene retreated to cover as the gunman—identified as Adel Ramos—laid down cover fire.

An armored vehicle eventually arrived, and officers used it to partially extract O'Sullivan, but that vehicle was eventually damaged and left disabled. Officers then transferred their wounded colleague to a patrol vehicle and transportedher  to a nearby hospital.

Following her death, doctors said that her wounds were "not survivable."
