A Michigan State Police trooper was taken to the hospital after coming into contact with an unknown powder during a traffic stop in Saginaw County.

The trooper from the Tri-City Post was conducting the stop around 8:30 p.m. Sunday, March 31, on Interstate 675 and came into contact with the powder, believed to be a narcotic, MLive reports.

“The trooper recognized the early effects of the narcotic and was able to self-administer a dosage of Narcan and request an ambulance for himself,” reads a statement from Michigan State Police issued Monday.
