An officer with the Buckeye (AZ) Police Department was airlifted to a hospital after he was struck by a Jeep in a traffic collision.

According to Fox News, the officer was responding to an unknown medical emergency at a local elementary school when the collision occurred.

The agency said on Facebook that the officer's injuries are serious but not life-threatening.

The driver of the Jeep was reportedly "shaken up" but suffered no physical injuries.
