An off-duty Alabama State Trooper was injured when a massive tornado struck the home he shares with his wife.
The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) said that Sergeant Robert Burroughs is currently being treated in the Intensive Care Unit at a local hospital. Mrs. Burroughs' condition was not immediately clear.
ALEA said the Burroughs home was completely destroyed.
According to WSFA-TV, Burroughs is among more than 40 victims who were taken to area hospitals after the tornado struck on Sunday. At least 23 people died in the storm, including three children.
