An officer with the New York Police Department was hospitalized on Sunday night following an incident that left a knife-wielding suspect dead.

Police had been called to reports of a domestic dispute when the reportedly intoxicated man emerged from the dwelling with a 10-inch knife in his hand.

One officer reportedly deployed a TASER, but the man continued moving toward the officers.

According to ABC News, the suspect—who may have been suicidal—was heard shouting, "Shoot me!" as he refused orders to drop the knife he was holding.
