A California Bay Area vehicle pursuit that began in Vallejo and ended in Oakland—two cities roughly 30 miles apart—ended in an officer-involved shooting that left one unidentified male suspect injured.
The man was taken to a nearby hospital. His condition was unknown.
The incident began after midnight on Thursday, with a call to 911 from a person who allegedly knows the suspect saying that the man was "heavily armed" and wearing body armor in his vehicle outside the caller's house.
Vallejo police officers responded and took tactical positions, but they said the suspect fled and the chase began, according to KTVU-TV News.
The pursuit ended when the suspect's black Ford Explorer hit a pole and a gunfight erupted.
One Vallejo police officer suffered a minor injury during the incident.
Charges have yet to be filed.
