A shooting that left four people dead, including the village's just-hired police chief, has left Kirkersville, OH, shaken.

Kirkersville Chief Steven Eric Disario, 36, and two employees at the Pine Kirk Care Center nursing home in Kirkersville were shot and killed early Friday. The suspected shooter also is dead, the Newark Advocate reports.

Kirkersville is normally a quiet — some would call it sleepy — village with a listed population of 590. Only one stop light, at the intersection of Main Street and Outville Road, stops traffic flowing east and west through the village.

Chief Disario had only accepted the office a few weeks ago. He was the father of six and his wife is pregnant, WOSU reports.
