VIDEO: 5-Year-Old Helps Turn Rescue Dog into Indiana Agency's Tracking K-9

The Ankeny (IN) Police Department will soon be deploying a new tracking K-9 thanks, in part, to the efforts of a 5-year-old boy

Bosco is a rescue dog from a shelter in Syracuse, IN, where he was picked up as a stray puppy.

Officials say Bosco was brought to Ankeny after the Ankeny Police Department launched a crowdfunding campaign to help raise money for a new K-9 unit.

Tristan’s Troops, led by Tristan Sommerfeld who is a 5 year-old Ankeny resident, arranged his own fundraiser on behalf of the Police Department and raised $1,500 for the K-9 project. Local businesses and private individuals raised the rest of the $30,000 needed to train and maintain the dog, Fox 10 reports.
