Ohio would boost the amount of training to become a police officer and require all candidates for law enforcement jobs to have a high school diploma under a legislative proposal, reports the Associated Press.
The measures follow recommendations for upgrading police training and standards that emerged from committees convened by Attorney General Mike DeWine and Gov. John Kasich in the wake of protests over fatal police shootings.
The Ohio House approved a bill Wednesday containing both proposals.
